FAQs
What issues do couples seek counseling for?
Common concerns include communication difficulties, recurring conflict, emotional distance, trust injuries, and questions about staying together or moving apart. Sometimes it’s hard to name a single issue—just a sense that something isn’t working the way it used to.
What approach is used in couples therapy?
Couples counseling is tailored to each relationship rather than following one fixed model. Sessions are collaborative and grounded in awareness, helping couples understand patterns of conflict, communication, emotional reactivity, and disconnection.
Depending on the couple’s needs, therapy may draw from approaches such as Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, CBT, IFS-informed work, and mindfulness-based practices. These frameworks can support clearer communication, better conflict navigation, and a deeper understanding of relational patterns.
The Gottman Relationship Checkup is an optional assessment that offers a structured way to explore key areas of a relationship, including communication, conflict, friendship, intimacy, and shared meaning. It helps identify strengths and areas for growth so therapy can focus on what matters most in the relationship.
How do we know if couples therapy is right for us?
Couples therapy can be helpful when something in the relationship feels stuck, repetitive, or hard to talk through alone. You don’t need to be in crisis for it to make sense. If you’re both willing to look at what’s happening between you, that’s often enough to begin.
Do you offer pre-marital counseling?
Yes. The Prepare/Enrich assessment offers a structured way to look at communication, expectations, conflict, and strengths and growth areas before marriage. It helps guide the conversation toward what’s most relevant for each couple.
What if one of us is unsure about coming?
That’s common. It doesn’t have to be fully mutual at the start. Sometimes one partner is more ready than the other. We can work with that.
Is couples therapy covered by insurance?
Couples therapy may be covered by insurance depending on your specific plan and benefits. Premarital counseling is typically not covered by insurance. Reduced-rate private pay care plans are also available for couples seeking a more consistent and structured rhythm of therapy. We partner with Headway to facilitate insurance billing.
Do you ever meet with each partner individually?
Most of the work is done with both partners in the room. At times, we may meet with each person individually if it seems helpful to the process, but that isn’t the default.
Are online couples sessions effective?
For many individuals and couples, online therapy can be just as effective as in-person counseling. While the experience is different, meaningful therapeutic work can still take place through virtual sessions, particularly when there is consistency, openness, and a strong therapeutic relationship.
Online sessions also offer greater flexibility and accessibility, making it easier for clients throughout Texas to engage in therapy from the comfort and privacy of their own space. Sessions are available both online and in person in Fort Worth, TX. Clients attending virtual sessions must be physically located in Texas at the time of the appointment.
Do you take sides?
No. The work is not about deciding who is right. It’s about understanding the pattern between you and how each person experiences it.
How often do couples usually come in?
At the beginning it's best to meet weekly. Every other week can also work, but anything less makes it hard to gain traction. Over time we can scale that back to once or month, or even as-needed, depending on what feels useful.

Why Couples and Family Therapy Works Best Outside the Insurance System
The kind of transformation we’re aiming for doesn’t fit neatly into the insurance system. Insurance is built for treating individual diagnoses within a medical model. Relationship work is different. It’s about both (or all) of you together—not a diagnosis, but the space between you.
Steady Support Plans
A reduced private-pay rate for clients seeking consistent therapy at a predictable cadence.
Two-session plans are $250/month and four-session plans $465/month.
Standard rate is $155/session.
These are not memberships or subscriptions in the commercial sense. They are structured ways of organizing therapeutic time so that the work remains consistent, intentional, and clinically grounded at a predictable cadence, with clarity around scheduling and continuity. You may opt out of a plan at any time.
