    About Paulson

Paulson was the name I proposed to my dad when we started a company many years ago. Paul was his name, so Paul + son = company name. Our relationship was a difficult one, not so good. The name was my overture to him, and seemed to go over well. He suggested we spell it PaulSon. I said the capital S was too much, and that didn't go over so well. He's gone now, but I think he'd be glad I hung on to the name.

Relationships can be hard. And the hardest are often the ones most important to us. It can be tempting to write them off, but it's much more rewarding to work through the challenges. The go-to mindset is to want the other person to change. We often think if he or she would just do this or that, everything would be a lot better. But the reality is that each of us has a part a to play in any relationship. Each of us both experiences the relationship and shapes it, sometimes for the better, sometimes for worse. We make choices, and those choices effect the world we live in, and how we experience it.

Individual therapy, couples therapy, family therapy... doesn't really matter. Change starts with us. With me. With you. Change your perspective, your mindset, your mental health, your relationship to your partner, your mom, your dad, your coworker, your boss, your community, your anything. Change yourself, then see how that changes the world as you experience it. That's what Paulson is 'about.'

When we reveal ourselves to another and find that this brings healing rather than harm, we make an important discovery - that intimate relationship can provide a sanctuary from the world of facades, a sacred space where we can be ourselve as we are.... This kind of unmasking - speaking our truth, sharing our inner struggles, and revealing our raw edges - is a sacred activity, which allows two souls to meet and touch more deeply.
